Pearl Street Grill & Brewery

Buffalo, NY

The Pearl Street Grill & Brewery is one of a growing number of “Brew Pubs”. As the name implies, these are restaurants that brew their own beer. Although the building, former home of Garcia’s Irish Pub, had functioned as a restaurant previously, extensive renovations were required to accommodate the Brewery operations. As in most “Brew Pubs”, the brewing process takes center stage. The existing floor structure had to be modified considerably to support the 7,500 lb. brewing kettle and fermenting tanks. Careful space planning was required to fit these operations into a restaurant setting.

Other features of the project not found in your typical bar/restaurant include: a 22 foot high exterior grain silo for bulk grain storage; a milling room for milling the grain; and a bucket elevator for transferring the milled grain to the brewing kettle.

Since designing the original conversion in 1997, Louis Design Solutions has been responsible for the design of all of the subsequent renovation work, including: expansion of the banquet facilities into the 3rd and 4th floors; complete overhaul of the banquet kitchen; exterior decks and balconies at the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors; new exterior entrances to the basement and 2nd floor bars; installation of a new passenger elevator; a cooler/catering staging area addition and of course, we provided all of the engineering required to keep “Lake Effect Man” on his perch high above the corner of Pearl and Seneca Streets.
